About Bandit Design Group

What is Bandit Design Group?

Bandit® is a female-led, Sydney-based brand experience studio that designs the full customer journey for the brands it works with — what the studio calls "The Unfair Advantage." The team works across strategy, naming, brand identity, verbal identity, brand experience, art direction, content creation, campaigns, websites, packaging, digital and print design, and copywriting.

Founder and Creative Director Mikeila Scheckenbach launched Bandit with a thesis about bridging the gap between brand strategy and customer experience: making sure the brand is filtered through every customer touchpoint, tangible and intangible. Recent named projects include Luna Bronze (tanning), Huru (healthier habits), Hybrid Athletic (performance & recovery), Munchie Stash, and Capsule WD.

Where will I work?

Bandit's studio is at Level 2, 105 Crown Lane, Darlinghurst NSW 2010 in inner-city Sydney. The studio publishes a clear acknowledgement of country on every page: "We pay respect to the Traditional Custodians and First Peoples of NSW and acknowledge their continued connection to their country and culture." The team operates from Sydney with a hybrid working rhythm shaped by the four-day week.

What is the Bandit Design Group team like?

Bandit calls the team "The Bandits." Members named publicly on the studio page include Mikeila (Mik) — Owner + Creative Director; Amy (Ams) — Account Director; Ashleigh (Ash) and Alanna (Lanz) — Senior Designers and Brand Strategists; Melissa (Mel) — Account Coordinator; and India (Inds) — Mid-Weight Designer. The studio is openly female-led and built around "young and curious minds" tapped into cultural and industry trends. The team's published promise: "to champion diversity, build an inclusive culture, and do our part to create a more equitable world… we'll always put our people [ that's you ] first." Awards on the cabinet include a Good Design Awards Communication Design Gold (2022), Telstra Best of Business Accelerating Women Finalist (2023), and three AGDA Brand Identity finalist nods in 2023 for Nancy Ganz, Roomie, and Rebalance.

Work-Life Balance

Bandit moved to a four-day work week from 4 October 2021. The founder's own published manifesto frames it bluntly: "I believe the traditional workweek is dead and it's time for something better. Better for our mental health, better for our creativity, and better for business." The shift was a deliberate response to the 2020/2021 reset around work, and Mikeila publicly invited other studio owners to share ideas about alternative working arrangements.

Perks and Benefits

Bandit is B Corp Certified, meaning it has passed the independent assessment of business practices, transparency, and impact on society and the environment. The studio is also Carbon Positive — last year it offset 44.3 tonnes of CO₂ and additionally funded 22 more tonnes of offsets, ending the year at 151% of carbon-neutral via its partnership with Trace. Bandit is a small team in a creative inner-Sydney studio, where joining means being one of ~6–7 named people rather than a number, with public exposure through awards, press features (The Brand Identity, Owners Collective, Shillington), and direct mentorship from a hands-on, female-led leadership team.
