About Bandai Namco Mobile
What is Bandai Namco Mobile?
Bandai Namco Mobile is the mobile games studio of the BANDAI NAMCO Group — the Japanese games-and-entertainment company behind some of gaming's most iconic IPs. The careers page sets the heritage out plainly: "From PAC-MAN to Tekken, Tamagotchi to Dark Souls, we are a games company steeped in history, and BANDAI NAMCO Mobile is the exciting new pillar of the BANDAI NAMCO Group's mobile strategy."
The Barcelona studio was set up to combine the IP power of a Japanese gaming giant with the agility of a small, focused mobile-games team. The pitch to candidates: small, autonomous teams of designers, artists, programmers, and marketers who get to "be involved in the games you help create, take ownership of your work, and be proactive in finding ways to make things better." The studio runs on four cultural values — Autonomy and Ownership, Teamwork and Community, Creativity and Innovation, and Work and Fun.
Where will I work?
Bandai Namco Mobile is a studio-first hybrid company based in Barcelona, Spain (16 Carrer de la Marina). The studio model values in-person collaboration so colleagues can learn from and inspire each other; two days work-from-home per week add flexibility on top of the in-office days. The careers page also runs a "Life in Barcelona" section emphasising the Mediterranean climate, Gaudi architecture, beaches, bicycle-friendly streets, and easy commutability from smaller surrounding towns — relocators get a soft sell.
What is the Bandai Namco Mobile team like?
The Barcelona studio is around 55+ people across game design, art, programming, marketing, and operations. Teams are deliberately small and agile — the careers page describes the operating model as: "creating small and agile teams full of talented, passionate people who are great at making games and feel valued and empowered." Decision-making is distributed: every team member should be able to "directly influence our collective work" on the games they help create.
Work-Life Balance
In March 2022 the studio switched to a 4-day work week — Fridays off, no salary reduction. As the careers page puts it: "More hours does not mean better work. We are trying a four-day workweek that keeps Fridays off without affecting your salary." On top of that, the studio offers unlimited holidays ("we trust you to stay on top of your tasks and enjoy unlimited holidays responsibly"), and the office is closed for one week over Christmas so families can be together.
