Who We Are

We are a bootstrapped 3D education and software company with a mission to foster and elevate creatives within the Blender community. We provide the tools and training necessary for anyone wanting to develop or master the power of 3D creation.

Autotroph was formerly CG Cookie, Inc. but rebranded in 2023 to better clarify our identity and reduce confusion given the fact that CG Cookie remains an active brand within the Autotroph family. This strategic move allows us to better serve our community while maintaining the trusted CG Cookie legacy.

Working at Autotroph

A healthy life-work balance is mission-critical at Autotroph. Family always comes first, and we aim to build that principle right into our business operations. Autotroph works on a genuine 4-day work week with optional Fridays, effectively adding 52 additional paid days off for full-time employees—nearly two months of extra time for what matters most to you.

The last thing we want is for anyone to burn out. Burnout is destructive and, more importantly, avoidable. We've designed our work structure to prevent it.

This means our typical work week is 32 hours. No, you're not asked to put in longer days in exchange for Friday off—we mean it when we say 4-day work week.

The exceptions to Fridays off are for large project launches and other special events that require constant attention. These situations will always be communicated well beforehand, ensuring no surprises.

Remote-First Culture

The Autotroph crew is spread across the world! We are a remote company by design, enabling and empowering each team member to live in the place that makes them happy. Whether that's in the plains of Kansas, the mountains of North Carolina, or anywhere else that calls to you, the only real requirement is a steady internet connection.

Being remote does mean we have to work harder to ensure we're communicating properly. One way we accomplish this is through annual or bi-annual company retreats, where we connect face-to-face, strengthen relationships, and align on our shared vision.
