About Auror
What is Auror?
Auror is the retail-crime intelligence platform trusted by some of the world's largest retailers and 3,500+ law enforcement agencies to stop theft and Organised Retail Crime. Founded in New Zealand 12 years ago, Auror's platform is now deployed in 85,000+ stores across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK — fighting what JDs describe as "a $150 billion problem globally." Retail crime is "increasingly organised in nature and is putting people, retailers, and communities at risk every day."
The mission is concrete: reduce violent retail crime by 50% in five years. Auror builds the connective tissue — Risk Recognition modules, Vehicle Recognition, Subject Recognition (Facial Recognition), real-time alerts, intelligence-sharing — that helps retailers and law enforcement act fast. The careers page is direct about the bar: "Auror is where you do work that matters, and where you can actually see the impact."
Where will I work?
Auror runs four offices spanning four continents:
- Auckland, New Zealand (HQ)
- Melbourne, Australia
- Denver, USA
- London, UK
The company has a hybrid flexible working model that values co-location for collaboration but supports remote work where appropriate. Some roles (especially regional Customer/Project Lead roles) involve customer-site travel — typically 2–5 days per month per the JDs.
What is the Auror team like?
Auror is around 120+ people, structured around six guiding principles:
- Win together — we win as a team; we lose when we play as individuals
- Be curious — suspend judgement, ask questions, explore new ideas with kindness
- Master simplicity — avoid unnecessary complexity, show courage by removing things
- Own your impact — embrace ownership and accountability
- Take action — bias to action, radiate intent, build momentum
- Make it magic — celebrate the impact of magic, however small
Customer testimonials on the careers page describe team members like Trevor Symons (VP Sales, North America) and "Art" (whose Brazilian coffee-farm-to-AI story illustrates the personal mission alignment). Every Auror gets access to leading AI tools to work at the frontier of intelligence-driven loss prevention.
Work-Life Balance
Auror runs a shorter work week at full pay — every Friday afternoon is off. The framing on the careers page is explicit: "We're outcome-focused, not clock-watchers." On top of that, employees get 29 days of annual leave plus public holidays and 10 paid Wellness Days per year that can be used for mental or physical health, medical appointments, or caring for an unwell family member. Comprehensive paid parental leave — 12 weeks for birth parents, 6 weeks for non-birth parents — is available to all Aurors from day one for birth, adoption, or surrogacy.
