About Americares
What is Americares?
Americares describes itself as "a global health and disaster relief organization that helps people and communities around the world access health in times of disaster and every day." Its postings say that "Each year, Americares reaches 85 countries on average, including the United States, with life-changing health programs, medicine, medical supplies and emergency aid", and that it is "one of the world’s leading nonprofit providers of donated medicine and medical supplies." It was founded in 1979, is based in Stamford, Connecticut, and runs emergency response, medicine security, free clinics and health programs for people affected by poverty, disasters and crises.
Where will I work?
Seven of its ten postings of 9 October 2026 read "Remote in CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, MA, NC, NJ, NY, OR, PA, Puerto Rico, TN, TX, VA, or WA". They cover roles such as a vice president of global product partnerships, a controller, contracts and IT roles, with travel of up to 10% in several. Other postings are based elsewhere: a mental health lead in Jamaica, a people and talent director in Mumbai or Bangaluru, and an Assistant Director, Registered Nurse role in Danbury, Connecticut that is "Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm, no weekends)". Its jobs page lists a "Remote work stipend" and "Flexible schedules" among its benefits.
What is the team like?
Its postings list the values the organization works by: "We create global community, treating people as they want to be treated", "We embed ethics and equity in our work and workplace" and "We are better together; partnership is at our core". Its jobs page adds "Well-being Wednesdays with yoga and meditation", "Global Work Community Groups", "Manager forums", "Leadership team office hours" and "Mentorship programs". It posts salary ranges for US roles and says offers are "not negotiated", which its postings explain as being about equity and fair pay.
Work-Life Balance
Its jobs page says Americares is "a global organization, and as such, our benefits packages vary by location", and sets out the US package: "Fifteen (15) vacation days, six (6) personal days, and seven (7) sick days per year", with increases after five years of service, and "Approximately fifteen (15) office holidays per year, plus a paid winter break". That is about 36 days of vacation, personal days and holidays before sick days and the winter break. It also lists "No Meeting Wednesdays", "Summer Fridays" and "Flexible schedules", without describing the summer Fridays further.
