Altra is an all-in-one experience and engagement platform designed for modern care services. The platform serves elderly care, learning-disability & supported living, independent living, day services, respite and outpatient settings.
Altra is live in more than 1,000 care homes and has expanded across Ireland, the UK and continental Europe, working with several of the largest European care groups. The company secured a $36 million Series B funding round to power its US expansion (per ThinkBusiness reporting).
Where will I work?
Altra is 100% remote across Europe, with its origins and HQ in Dublin, Ireland (DB confirms country = Ireland, hq_city = Dublin). The product is sold to care providers — including disclosed customers Athena Care Homes (Sales & Hospitality Manager Lisa Vila: "The Altra platform has been a game-changer for us in enhancing service delivery through the effective measurement of set KPIs"), Trinity Care (CEO Mike Tonery: "We have transformed our approach to feedback by using Altra's survey tool"), and others. The team comprises product-led roles across engineering, customer experience, sales and care-services partnerships.
What is the Altra team like?
Altra was founded by Adam Keane (Founder & CEO), who grew up working in his family's nursing home in Dublin from the age of 15 — a business his grandfather and father ran for over 30 years. Adam studied economics and finance at UCD, completed a master's in finance at the Smurfit Business School, spent several years in corporate finance, then launched Altra in 2019. In his own words: "My mother and father ran our family nursing home, and they taught me the importance of compassionate care. They put a big emphasis on person-centred care and how it can truly bring joy to residents."
Sebastien Destenbert (Chief Operating Officer) joined as COO bringing multi-industry experience in banking, consulting and e-commerce: "For years I had my grandmother in a nursing home that I could not visit because I was abroad, and it was very difficult to organise a video call... It is time to bring the digital age in the nursing home world."
Six lived values guide the work: Accessibility ("our app is easy to use for all residents, families and caregivers"), Transparency, Engagement, Dignity ("Altra promotes the dignity and independence of residents"), Inclusivity and Support. Two product lines: Altra Staff (launched late 2019) and Altra Family (2020), now extended with the broader engagement platform.
Work-Life Balance
Altra operates with a 4-day work week (per the company's submission to 4dayweek.io: "We have a 4 day work week (32hrs) — every Friday is off!"). The team is 100% remote across Europe, with no required office days. The remote-first structure means the team works from across European time zones while serving customers in Ireland, the UK and the wider European care sector.
