About Aaen & Co.
What is Aaen & Co.?
Aaen & Co. (Aaen & Co. statsautoriserede revisorer P/S) is one of North Zealand's largest firms of state-authorised public accountants, advising clients across Denmark's Capital Region. The firm sets out to do things differently from the big audit houses: it avoids long-winded explanations and aims to be direct, open and accessible, delivering maximum value through high professional standards and a proactive, solution-oriented approach. Its client base spans the full range — from housing co-operatives and private businesses to owner-managed companies and large partnership entities. Internationally it works through the Kreston International network, and partners with Revitax on tax matters.
Where will I work?
Aaen & Co. operates from two offices: its head office at Kongevejen 3A in 3000 Helsingør, and a second office in Bagsværd. Its clients are spread across the greater Copenhagen area and North Zealand.
What is the Aaen & Co. team like?
The firm was founded in 1999 by Kenn Elmgren, Søren Appelrod and Bo Bay Hougaard, with the ambition of building a down-to-earth practice focused on meeting and serving clients with closeness and high professional standards. That recipe proved successful: today Aaen & Co. is run on the same principles, with seven partners, 45 employees and the two offices in Helsingør and Bagsværd. The whole organisation is described as driven by strong professional skill and a proactive, hands-on attitude to client work.
Work-Life Balance
Aaen & Co. is leading its profession on working hours: "Aaen & Co. går foran med 4-dages arbejdsuge på 32 timer" — the firm operates a four-day, 32-hour working week. It frames the move as a deliberate break with what it calls an unhealthy working culture in the industry, intended to make being an accountant attractive again ("4-dages arbejdsuge skal gøre det attraktivt at være revisor"). The change has been covered in the Danish business press, including Børsen, which framed the four-day week as effectively a real pay rise for staff.
Perks and Benefits
The firm's standout commitment is its four-day, 32-hour week at full pay — positioned as a structural reform of accountancy working life rather than a one-off perk. (No further standalone benefits are detailed on the firm's own site.)
