About 3D Issue

What is 3D Issue?

3D Issue is a digital publishing company headquartered in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, Ireland. Set up by ex-publisher and CEO Paul McNulty, the company has been operating for over 15 years, serving more than 1,000 customers worldwide. The flagship Flipbooks product suite — which helped print publishers convert PDFs into page-turning online replications — was released in 2007 and remains a core part of the offering. In 2026 the product set has expanded to four platforms: Experios (mobile-centric responsive content), Flipbooks (PDF conversion to digital editions), DemoGo, and Sizeim.

The technology is pitched at marketing teams and digital publishers who want to reach audiences with accessible, interactive content. 3D Issue claims a 99% cost reduction on responsive content creation versus outsourcing to external development, a 50× speed-up via drag-and-drop template blocks, and up to 2× readership growth for customers. All editions are produced with full ADA, EAA and WCAG compliance.

In 2022, Furthr VC led a €750K investment in 3D Issue with plans to create 24 new jobs.

Where will I work?

3D Issue is headquartered at Neil T Blaney Road, Letterkenny, Donegal, Ireland. The company supports a flexible work environment with remote-working options alongside the Donegal office — the team adopted remote-first practices well before COVID forced the world to adapt.

What is the 3D Issue team like?

The team operates around four core values: "Innovative — at the forefront of digital publishing with exciting new features"; "Customer focused — listening to our customers to help them overcome challenges"; "Teamwork — supporting our customers throughout their content creation journey"; and "Inclusive & diverse — making sure that everybody can engage with our publications."

3D Issue customers have included publishers ranging from magazine houses to corporate marketing teams. James Rix (Marketing Director) describes the software as letting them "reach our audiences with new, innovative technology that compliments our editorial and advertising," with a "personal approach to customer service." Tim Landon (CEO) reports an audience that has more than doubled in 90 days using the platform.

Work-Life Balance

3D Issue was one of the first companies in Ireland to adopt a four-day working week — and the way they got there is unusual. CEO Paul McNulty: "I decided to offer everyone a choice: either a 20pc pay increase or a four-day week. Every single person chose a four-day week." The schedule is structured with two rotating groups: a "Monday group" who take Fridays off, and a "Tuesday group" who take Mondays off, so the company always has coverage. After implementation McNulty reported that "staff are happier, more refreshed and more engaged in their work" — and developer job applications saw a five-fold increase, with candidates citing the 4DW as a contributing factor.
