Job Description
As a UI Artist at Ubisoft Montréal, you will design and produce the visual elements of the game interface, including menus, typography, iconography, color palettes, and Heads-Up Display (HUD) elements. You will collaborate closely with the art direction, User Experience (UX) design, and UI technical artist teams to deliver a clear, consistent, and intuitive interface.
What you will do
- Create graphic mockups and visual assets for menus, systems, and the Heads-Up Display (HUD)
- Transform 3D models into 2D illustrated elements using rendering and graphic retouching techniques
- Design readable and intuitive interfaces by applying principles of typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy
- Maintain a consistent visual direction throughout the project's interface while adhering to artistic guidelines
- Produce mockups, animatics, and simple prototypes to validate the visual direction and motion graphics
- Collaborate with the User Experience design team to support usability, navigation, and player understanding
- Prepare and optimize interface assets for the game engine with UI technical artists
- Ensure readability, adaptability, and visual consistency across different platforms and resolutions
- Adapt typography and layouts to support localization and text expansion
- Participate in visual bug fixing and interface polishing while supporting accessibility goals
Qualifications
What you bring to the team
- Demonstrate strong skills in graphic design and visual organization
- Proficiency in the Adobe Suite, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator
- Use of prototyping or animation tools such as After Effects or Figma
- Understanding of current trends in User Interface and motion graphics
- Ability to prepare interface assets adapted to technical pipelines
- Application of user-centered design principles
- Ability to adapt interfaces to different languages and cultural realities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly
