An overview of this role

As a Stock Administrator at GitLab, you will help run our global equity programs, including stock options, restricted stock units, performance stock units, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. This role helps ensure our equity data, reporting, and processes are accurate, compliant, audit-ready, and understandable for GitLab team members. You will report into a team that works closely with Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Legal, and People Operations, and you will have broad ownership across daily operations, reconciliations, reporting, and team member support. In your first year, you will build trust as a reliable owner of audit-sensitive workflows, strengthen documentation and reconciliations in our SOX-compliant environment, and help improve the clarity and efficiency of stock plan operations in an all-remote, asynchronous company.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor daily data integrations between Workday, E*TRADE, and Equity Edge Online, and validate records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Resolve integration and data issues by working with internal partners and external vendors in a timely, well-documented way.
  • Maintain accurate equity records in Equity Edge Online.
  • Complete all required reconciliations for each reporting period.
  • Support restricted stock unit releases through data analysis and validation, including review of account activation status, W-8BEN completion, and foreign disbursement coding.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc equity reports for Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Legal, and People Operations to support planning, reporting, and compliance needs.
  • Respond to stock-related HelpLab cases as the first point of contact, triaging questions and providing clear, accurate support to GitLab team members.
  • Perform SOX key report completeness checks and maintain documentation that supports equity-related controls, reconciliations, and audit requests.
  • Drive process improvements that make stock plan operations more efficient, transparent, and reliable across global workflows.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in equity compensation administration, public accounting, or SOX and internal audit work with exposure to equity transactions, compliance reporting, or stock-based compensation testing.
  • Working knowledge of SOX control and audit documentation standards, including preparation of work papers that clearly show calculations, assumptions, and supporting detail.
  • Familiarity with E*TRADE and Equity Edge Online, with exposure to Equity Edge Online workflows considered helpful.
  • Strength in data analysis, reconciliation, and validation, including work with large datasets in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Ability to manage detailed, high-volume workflows with accuracy in an audit-sensitive environment.
  • Communication skills that support effective collaboration with Finance, Payroll, Legal, and People Operations in a remote, asynchronous setting.
  • Comfort supporting team members directly through written explanations, issue triage, and equity-related communications.
  • Openness to relevant experience from adjacent backgrounds and willingness to complete CEP Level 1 certification within 18 months of employment; current CEP candidates or holders are preferred.

About the team

The Stock Administration team is a small, specialized group responsible for supporting GitLab’s global equity operations and helping ensure those programs meet reporting, tax, and compliance requirements. The team works closely with Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Legal, and People Operations across time zones in an all-remote, asynchronous environment, with some overlap needed during US stock market hours. Because the team’s work regularly supports SOX reporting, accuracy, completeness checks, reconciliations, and formal documentation are part of day-to-day operations. This is a team for people who care about details, take ownership of important operational work, and want to improve how equity programs scale as GitLab grows.
