Job Description

As a Senior User Interface Artist on For Honor at Ubisoft Montreal, you will help create, evolve, and modernize the interfaces that accompany players throughout their experience in For Honor. You will design and produce clear and consistent visual elements for menus, the heads-up display, and the game's various systems. You will work closely with the user experience, art direction, UI programming, and design teams.

For Honor is a constantly evolving game, and you will contribute to delivering new features and content, as well as to improving interfaces developed over more than ten years. You will also take part in certain user experience activities, such as exploring solutions and creating user flows, interface schematics, and prototypes, to help simplify the player experience.

What you will do

  • Design and produce interfaces and visual assets for menus, the heads-up display, systems, and game features
  • Transform design intentions and player needs into clear, intuitive, and consistent visual solutions
  • Create mockups, interface schematics, prototypes, and, when needed, animatics to explore and validate solutions
  • Apply typography, color, composition, visual hierarchy, and motion graphics to communicate information effectively
  • Collaborate with the user experience team to improve player journeys, interactions, navigation, and information organization
  • Modernize existing interfaces by simplifying flows, reducing obstacles, and improving readability and consistency
  • Evolve the design system, reusable components, and interface guidelines
  • Prepare, integrate, and optimize interface assets in the game engine with UI programming teams and technical artists
  • Balance visual quality, user experience, and technical constraints, taking into account accessibility, localization, platforms, and resolutions
  • Improve interfaces based on feedback, playtests, and user research, then take part in debugging and share team practices

What you bring to the team

  • Experience in interface creation or graphic design, ideally in video games
  • Mastery of composition, typography, color, and visual hierarchy, as well as tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Mastery of design, prototyping, and animation tools such as Figma and After Effects
  • Ability to apply user experience concepts, ergonomics, information architecture, and user-centered design
  • Understanding of player journeys, interactions, and needs beyond the visual aspect of interfaces
  • Experience integrating interfaces into a game engine and understanding of the constraints of working with technical teams
  • Ability to account for accessibility, localization, and adaptability while evolving the systems of a constantly changing game
  • Ability to communicate your ideas and collaborate across multiple disciplines; and, as an asset, experience with game engines, 3D software, scripting languages, or shaders
