To strengthen our organization, we are looking for an: Operational Manager Global Logistics.

Welcome to our team

Our site in Haarlem packages more than 40 different products for approximately 150 markets worldwide. The Haarlem site consists of several Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) and Centers of Excellence. The IPT Global Logistics is responsible for:

  • Receipt of cold and ambient materials (including components and bulk)
  • Intake and storage
  • Dispensing and coding of materials
  • Pick-pack activities for internal and external customers
  • Distribution to internal and external customers

Purpose of the role

As an Operational Manager, you are responsible for safety, quality, and productivity within the Integrated Process Team (IPT) Global Logistics. You align activities that influence warehouse and distribution planning with the needs of internal and external customers. You ensure that quality procedures and guidelines are followed and that the documentation flow is complete and correct. In addition, you initiate and lead improvement projects in the areas of technology, quality, and safety, using Lean methodologies. You are driven to achieve objectives without compromising product quality.

Responsibilities

As an Operational Manager, you are co-responsible for the operational processes of internal logistics. The logistics process takes place in a two-shift system. You mainly work in day shifts, but once every six weeks you will work an afternoon shift and be on call.

In this role, you:

  • Provide coaching leadership to 10 to 15 Logistics Operators and bring out the best in your team members
  • Are responsible for achieving production and cost targets without compromising the safety and quality of our products
  • Ensure that quality procedures and guidelines are followed and that all documentation is complete and accurate based on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP)
  • Monitor the quality of work and investigate any deviations from the standard process together with the quality officer
  • Initiate and manage improvement projects in the areas of technology, quality, and/or safety, using Lean methodologies
  • Work closely with specialists in the fields of Improvement, Engineering, Quality, and EHS

Your profile

  • A completed bachelor's degree (hbo), preferably in a logistics and/or business administration field.
  • At least one year of relevant leadership work experience.
  • A strong people manager, capable of providing direction, offering structure, and coaching employees toward working independently.
  • Able to set priorities well and make the right decisions even under time pressure.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • A firm, decisive personality.
  • Communicatively skilled, both verbally and in writing, in Dutch and English.
  • Demonstrable experience with SAP within a logistics or supply chain environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured, result-oriented way of working.
  • Experience with Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Operational Excellence.
