Job Description

As a Senior Technical Designer, you will be responsible for creating and implementing complex, technical, and systemic design elements in a game.

You will be, at your core, a game or level designer recognized for your technical skills, within a design production team or multidisciplinary team.

Acting as a technical reference for your team, you will help, support, and advise your peers as needed. You may also be called upon to become the technical expert on the project for a specific game element.

What you will do

  • Be responsible for the realization and implementation of the technical elements of a complete game feature by working closely with technical directors, programmers, or other disciplines.
  • Act as a technical expert on a specific subject, and in this capacity, be responsible for tools, documentation, and technical support as well as the identification and dissemination of best practices.
  • Participate in the optimization and validation of data by ensuring that your colleagues respect technical standards for your area of expertise while taking budget constraints into account.
  • Participate in advanced debugging of data through to the very end of production.
  • Provide periodic feedback to design leadership, such as suggestions for improving tools and methods, etc.
  • Participate in testing new features or tools before they are deployed to the rest of the team.
  • Perform production tasks within a team as a game or level designer + prototype gameplay features during game design.
  • Design and implement in the game more complex, more abstract design elements that present a technical challenge or have implications for the entire game.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team

  • 8 years of experience in game or level design (with a more technical profile)
  • Ease in understanding and communicating in technical language + the ability to express your ideas clearly (in writing and verbally)
  • Good adaptability, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • A user-oriented mindset
  • Great curiosity: you have a passion for understanding how things work
  • Experience with different engines and platforms (an asset)
  • Experience with multiple 2D/3D creation software (an asset)
  • Experience in programming/scripting (an asset)
