About the role
Anthropic is looking for a communications lead to run our communications strategy in France, Italy, and Spain. Based in Paris, you will shape how Anthropic shows up in the region: you will define our corporate and product narrative, navigate complex policy matters, and introduce our brand to audiences beyond the AI sector. You will report to the Head of EMEA Communications.
This is a first-in-market role. You will be the communications representative on the ground. You will build the Anthropic brand and embody our AI safety mission for the general public, institutional, and technical audiences. You are fluent in French and English, comfortable with mainstream news topics such as AI policy issues, and motivated by the prospect of building from scratch within one of the world's most influential technology companies.
Responsibilities
- Drive the communications strategy for France and Southern Europe, translating Anthropic's global momentum, research leadership, and product innovation into strategies that resonate locally
- Lead corporate communications in the region. Design landmark moments and reference-setting statements that establish Anthropic as one of the world's most admired companies and a true economic force in Europe
- Make communications a strategic partner to GTM teams. Consolidate Claude's leadership among enterprises and demonstrate how our responsible approach to building safe AI earns the trust of decision-makers in regulated sectors
- Develop public affairs communications that help define a positive future for AI in the region. In partnership with our Policy team, highlight the ways AI is transforming science, education, and the public sector, while navigating sensitive conversations on sovereignty, copyright, and regulation
- Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, creators, and influencers who shape the AI debate in the region
- Provide communications counsel and media training for Anthropic spokespeople as well as our customers' spokespeople
- Structure team operations and agency support to scale our narrative
Your profile
- You have approximately 10 to 12 years of experience in communications, ideally with in-house roles at AI companies or high-growth technology companies
- You are genuinely passionate about AI and place great importance on the safe development of transformative AI systems
- You are proficient in media relations, particularly working directly with journalists in France
- You have a solid understanding of the European AI ecosystem: the companies, founders, investors, journalists, and policymakers who drive the debate
- You have led international communications programs for a US-headquartered technology company, with significant experience in France, Italy, or Spain
- You know how to manage senior stakeholders and provide relevant and incisive counsel to executives
- You are fluent in French and English at a minimum. Proficiency in Italian and/or Spanish is a plus
Additional appreciated assets
- Direct experience in communications for AI companies, high-growth startups, or research labs
- An established network among key voices driving AI debates in France, Italy, and Spain
- Complementary communications experience in the financial, healthcare, or science sectors
- An understanding of AI policy dynamics within the EU
Logistics
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
