Role Title: Chemistry Expert (PhD)
Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote
micro1 is engaging Chemistry Experts (PhD) to contribute their advanced subject-matter expertise to a customer’s AI training initiative. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about distilling complex chemistry concepts into clear, precise written and verbal explanations to inform and improve AI capabilities.
Scope of Work
- Produce authoritative, accurate responses to advanced chemistry queries for AI model training, focusing on depth and clarity (not just scoring or rubric-based answers).
- Review and assess chemistry data, questions, and solutions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current best practices.
- Develop comprehensive explanations, justifications, and context for a wide range of chemistry topics, including both foundational and specialized domains.
- Collaborate with annotation leads and project managers to refine and iterate on response requirements and quality standards.
- Create and document examples of “golden responses” that can serve as benchmarks for future AI model outputs.
- Participate in occasional discussions or workshops (remotely) to clarify project goals and ensure domain alignment.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry or a closely related discipline with strong foundational and advanced subject knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex chemical concepts clearly in both written and verbal forms.
- Experience producing or reviewing educational, research, or technical chemistry content (e.g., publications, curriculum, peer review, industry reports).
- Familiarity with diverse subfields of chemistry (organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, materials, etc.) and the ability to contextualize topics for various audiences.
- Attention to detail and a passion for accuracy and correctness in scientific communication.
- Prior experience contributing to AI, data annotation, or digital content projects is a plus, but not required.
- Collaboration skills, particularly in remote or cross-functional project environments.
