Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.
Discord is looking for an Administrative Business Lead to join our centrally-reporting and close knit ABP team. This is a dual-focus role: you will lead and mentor a small team of Administrative Business Partners (ABPs) while also providing high-quality executive support to 2 leaders across our Law & Policy org.
You are someone who is passionate about the craft of administrative partnership; someone who finds real energy in helping others grow, building systems that make leadership more effective, and showing up as a trusted, proactive presence for the people you support.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and mentor a small team of ABPs, serving as their coach and advocate.
- Champion professional development across the team; identify growth opportunities, provide meaningful feedback, and model the high standards of the ABP function.
- Own the bi-annual performance review cycle for your team, partnering with the Senior ABP Manager to ensure fair, thoughtful, and impact-driven evaluations.
- Actively support and strengthen the working relationships between your ABPs and the executives they partner with.
- Work with your fellow ABP managers to bring team events to life - everything from bi-weekly meetings to team outings
- Serve as a trusted business partner to 2 leaders across our Law & Policy org - providing seamless, proactive, and high-quality support.
- Own the calendar end-to-end: scheduling with intention, applying strategic prioritization based on your executives' goals, and ensuring their time is protected and well-spent.
- Maintain a high responsiveness standard - quick turnarounds and clear communication are your baseline.
- Drive end-to-end planning and execution for onsite events, collaborating cross-functionally to bring strategic goals to life.
- Attend and facilitate meetings when appropriate - capturing detailed notes, tracking action items, and holding stakeholders accountable for follow-through.
- Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements, including flights, ground transportation, lodging, and documentation.
- Manage internal projects and initiatives - following up with stakeholders, keeping your executives informed, and acting as a liaison between leadership and their teams.
- Write independently on behalf of your principal - drafting communications, updates, and announcements with the right voice and level of detail.
- Aggregate and submit expense reports accurately and in a timely manner.
What you should have
- Genuine passion for the ABP function - you believe deeply in what great administrative partnership can do for a team, and you want to share that with the people you lead.
- A coaching mindset - you naturally identify where others can grow and find ways to support them that are contextually appropriate, not one-size-fits-all.
- Strong calendar management skills - you make scheduling feel effortless for your executives, with an intuitive sense for prioritization, ease of use, and protecting time that matters.
- Exceptional responsiveness and follow-through - you operate with urgency and close the loop, every time.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills - you anticipate needs, foresee near-term obstacles, and proactively create plans or escalate when needed.
- Clear, confident communication - you articulate complex information well, adjust your style by audience, and can write independently on behalf of others.
- High emotional intelligence and discretion - you understand team morale, handle sensitive information with care, and know when and how to escalate.
- Comfort with ambiguity - you’re able to adapt to evolving priorities and busy weeks while also being able to slow down and enjoy more time with your team or clean up documentation on the slower weeks
- 4+ years of administrative support experience, with demonstrated experience supporting VP+ level leaders.
- 1+ year of direct people management experience.
- Proficiency in G-Suite, particularly Google Calendar and Gmail.
- Experience with Asana, Notion, or similar project management tools.
- Bonus: Experience and comfort using Discord
