What is IriusRisk?
IriusRisk is a cybersecurity scale-up automating threat modeling so secure-by-design becomes a practical workflow, not a manual ceremony. Mission verbatim: "Delivering secure technology to the world: by design". Vision: "Using AI in security by design, we empower the world's leading enterprises to Build-Safer-Faster".
The origin story is unusually candid (and printed on the About page): "IriusRisk was born in 2015 from the tireless minds of Stephen de Vries and Cristina Bentué and their eagerness to create secure by design applications, for time-stretched teams." The co-founders moved from London to rural Spain — "in the middle of a vineyard, an olive yard and a barley field, where they could build their own cabin from which to lay the foundations of their dream" — built a self-sufficient log-cabin office, dug a well, installed solar panels, and bootstrapped for a year and a half eating "rice and omelet with tomatoes (if in season) … every single day". A successful Series A round closed in late 2020, since when IriusRisk has been "achieving yearly growth of nearly 100% year on year" (verbatim). Today the company serves more than 100 clients including major financial institutions and medical device makers, with customers spanning use cases "from electric cars to hospital defibrillators".
Where will I work?
IriusRisk is remote-first with talent "across Europe and the Americas". Their Work From Anywhere program (verbatim Careers) supports working from home, an office, or "somewhere else entirely". The team has expanded to 200 employees worldwide, from Europe to North America and New Zealand. The corporate registered HQ is in Huesca, Spain (the original founder location), but day-to-day work is distributed.
