About City of Alhambra
What is the City of Alhambra?
The City of Alhambra is the municipal government of Alhambra, California — the self-styled "Gateway to San Gabriel Valley", a city of about 83,000 just eight miles east of downtown Los Angeles, incorporated in 1903 and named after Washington Irving's Tales of the Alhambra. Its Main & Garfield district has been a commerce centre since 1895, and the Valley Boulevard corridor is a national hub for Asian-owned bank headquarters — the city was 51.9% Asian at the 2020 census. For its size Alhambra is unusually full-service: it runs both its own Police Department and its own Fire Department (established 1906), and with around 617 employees City Hall is one of the largest employers in town.
Where will I work?
Alhambra City Hall at 111 South First Street. The 4/10 is structural: the city's own footer reads "City Hall Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 5:30 pm". Four days on, every Friday off.
What is the City of Alhambra team like?
Roughly 617 staff across police, fire, community development, public works, library and administration — a big civic employer for an 83,000-person city. Recent civilian postings include a Director of Parks & Recreation. We list the city's civilian professional roles; sworn police/fire and part-time positions run separate rosters and are excluded from our feed.
Work-Life Balance
Every Friday off, by the building's own published hours. A live posting sums up the package the city leads with: a top salary "PLUS, an excellent benefits package!" with scheduled increases already published.
