Essential Job Functions
A Supervising Telecommunications Systems Engineer is responsible for performing a combination of the following essential job functions:
- Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of a staff of telecommunications engineers engaged in designing and implementing telecommunications systems, such as voice, video, wireless, security, data communication, and other telecommunications projects.
- Supervises and evaluates telecommunications engineering staff to support effective and efficient operations.
- Manages telecommunications projects by coordinating activities and resources to ensure timely completion.
- Develops and monitors project budgets to align costs with operational and project requirements.
- Reviews telecommunications project specifications and coordinates procurement activities related to telecommunications systems and services.
- Develops and implements telecommunications engineering standards and practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry requirements.

Requirements
REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree* in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or in a related physical science** -AND- five years engineering experience in the planning and design of telecommunications systems. One additional year of the required telecommunications experience may be substituted for each year of college.
LICENSE
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS
Physical Class 2 – Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
