Role & Mission
"Transforming the infrastructure that supports Japan's public services and government from the ground up with cloud technology." We are seeking a Systems Engineer (SE) for our Public Sector team (Central Government and Local Municipalities) to lead our customers' digital and organizational transformation from a technical perspective.
Our SEs go beyond simple product demonstrations; they act as "Trusted Advisors" who deeply understand customer challenges and propose the optimal use of cloud technologies. This is a highly rewarding position with massive scale, directly transforming how government agencies and municipalities—the foundation of Japan's society—operate and deliver services.
About the Team
Our presales organization is a global team of over 800 highly skilled and customer-centric professionals. The Public Sector SE team is a dedicated group managing central government ministries and local municipalities. Working hand-in-hand with the Public Sector Sales team, we leverage presales consulting, technical guidance, and hands-on support to design and propose optimal solutions tailored to the unique needs of public sector customers.
Key Responsibilities
As a dedicated SE for the public sector, you will act as a technical leader, working closely with the sales team to drive engagements from the creation of sales opportunities to the successful execution of technical evaluations (PoC/PoV).

Strategic Presales & Customer Vision Formulation

Conduct vision workshops to uncover latent customer challenges and map out IT roadmaps (hybrid cloud, AI infrastructure, cloud-native transformation).

Engage deeply from the RFI/RFP formulation stage, supporting the development of technical specifications that leverage Nutanix's competitive advantages for strategic spec-in.

Utilize the latest AI tools alongside cloud infrastructure through demos, prototypes, and PoCs. Proactively build environments tailored to customer use cases, turning abstract visions into "working models" to accelerate decision-making.

Opportunity Ownership & Customer Control

Proactively develop technical strategies for assigned accounts and lead key technical stakeholders across customers and partners, rather than waiting for sales directives.

Find "how it can be done" in challenging situations involving budget constraints, rigid specifications, and technical limitations by exploring alternatives and phased migration plans.

Clearly define customer success criteria, taking a hands-on approach and involving relevant parties to secure technical wins.

Provide knowledge transfer on the latest technologies to partner SEs in the public sector, driving comprehensive partner enablement.

Required Experience & Skills (MUST)

6–9 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role.

3–5 years of practical experience as a Presales Engineer.

Excellent presentation and communication skills to clearly explain complex technical topics and propose optimal solution strategies.

Strong technical understanding and flexible adaptability to new technologies and changing market landscapes.

Strong self-management skills to concurrently manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.

Collaborative mindset to work smoothly with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

English proficiency: Reading and writing (Required). Business-level speaking is highly preferred.

Preferred Experience & Skills (WANT)

Business knowledge, presales experience, or familiarity with the procurement customs of the Public Sector (Government and Municipalities).

Presales experience in data center/cloud technologies (storage, virtualization, public cloud, Kubernetes, databases, automation, etc.).

Deep technical knowledge of Nutanix products and expertise (SME) in specific technical domains.

Experience mentoring junior staff or training new employees.

Experience with physical setup for PoC hardware when necessary (may involve racking equipment weighing around 23kg / 50lbs in data centers).
