Overview
Reporting to the Market Operations & Structuring Manager, the Senior Structuring Analyst serves as the bridge between Pricing, Market Operations, Trading, Billing, and Commercial teams to ensure retail product structures, cost assumptions, and profitability analytics are accurate, consistent, and competitive.
Structuring ensures every deal priced and every forecast maintained reflects real, measurable market value - enabling commercial agility and defensible decision-making.
This role establishes and leads the Structuring function across SmartestEnergy US, providing the focus and ownership required to proactively manage retail risk across all non-energy cost components.
The individual will own non-energy forecasting, retail curve development, and profitability analytics, ensuring alignment between pricing assumptions and realized outcomes, and driving transparency across all cost components embedded in retail supply.
This position will work closely with Pricing, Market Operations, Trading, Sales, Billing, and Finance to ensure end-to-end alignment from deal structuring through settlement realization.
In this role, you will be involved with the following:
Non-Energy Forecasting
· Own all non-energy cost forecasts across PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, and ERCOT
· Develop and refine forward non-energy curves used in retail pricing
· Ensure all cost components are transparent, traceable, and consistently applied
· Track forecast vs. actuals and identify key variance drivers
· Incorporate ISO rule changes, settlement updates, and market design changes into forecasting methodologies
Competitiveness & Profitability
· Benchmark retail competitiveness vs. peers, brokers, and wholesale market trends
· Monitor contract profitability from deal inception through delivery
· Identify and explain deviations between forecasted and realized margins
· Produce structured reporting to inform margin, fee, and product design decisions
Product & Process Governance
· Document product structures, cost inclusions, and pricing assumptions
· Maintain version-controlled libraries for non-energy curves, charge code mappings, and structured product logic
· Drive continuous improvement in structuring processes to ensure scalability, repeatability, and auditability
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Align with Pricing, Trading, Finance, and Billing on settlement outcomes
· Partner with Sales & Trading on complex structured product opportunities
· Provide training and guidance to pricing analysts on cost drivers and forecasting logic
To be successful in this role, you are likely to have the following skills/experience:

Experience in retail energy structuring

Multi-ISO experience (PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, ERCOT preferred)

Experience with forward curves, cost modeling, and profitability analytics

Experience supporting structured or complex commercial deals preferred

Strong understanding of retail energy cost stack, especially non-energy components

Familiarity with ISO market structures, settlements, and regulatory frameworks

Understanding of pricing models, billing constructs, and contract structures
