The Service & Team:

The Elections Team are based in the Customer and Corporate Services Directorate, within the Finance and Assurance Service and within the Governance, Elections and Democratic Services Teams.

The Role:

Cornwall Council are looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic, self-motivated and skilled Senior Electoral Officer within our Elections team.  You will be contributing to the lives of Cornwall residents by ensuring our community’s participation in the democratic process.  You will be working in the heart of a team that administers the organisation of all elections and referendums within Cornwall along with the registration of voters, the annual canvass and compilation of the electoral register.  For the organisation of elections, you will be mainly concerned with one of our six constituencies.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

Working Pattern:

The working pattern is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a hybrid basis working either at our Truro Offices or at home.  During busy periods such as major elections you may be required to work some evenings and weekends (overtime or flexi time will be paid/accrued for this)

What you’ll need to succeed:

Ideally, you will have achieved a professional qualification at Association of Electoral Administrator Certificate level, have a good understanding of current legislation and best practice within the election world and be able to perform to a high standard and with a high attention to detail.
