(Senior) Consultant / Manager – Payments

About Our Client
Our client is a specialist consultancy executing and steering real decisions for leading banks and financial service providers. Demand has outpaced capacity: the firm is currently turning away new clients and is hiring 2-3 Senior Consultants or Managers to expand its bench.
The Opportunity
This is a chance to lead payments projects end-to-end at senior client level, without the layers of a Big 4 or MBB firm slowing you down. You'll operate independently, shape opportunities before being asked to, and work across some of the most technically interesting problems in the space – account-based payments, cards, mobile, e-commerce, and crypto.
For someone with a consulting background looking for more autonomy, or a payments specialist looking to sharpen their commercial edge, this role sits at that intersection.
What You Will Do
- Lead payment transaction projects end-to-end at major banks and financial service providers, from requirements through implementation
- Create requirements and solution concepts, staying closely involved across every project phase
- Own specialist topics spanning account-based payments, card payments, mobile payments, e-commerce, or cryptocurrencies
- Operate independently at senior client levels, identifying and shaping opportunities without being directed
- Develop existing client relationships and contribute organically to new business
About You
- 3-5 years' experience at Senior Consultant or Manager level
- Background in top-tier management consulting with a subsequent move into payments/fintech – or the reverse path
- A track record of building projects from the ground up, not just executing within a pre-defined workstream
- Street-smart and self-directed, comfortable operating at C-suite level without hand-holding
- Ambitious with realistic expectations – not solely chasing a partner-track timeline
- Fluent to native German (C1-C2); English desirable, French a plus
- Based in Germany, willing to travel extensively for client-site work
