Library Technician IV

The Acquisitions and Cataloging department at the Syracuse University Libraries is searching for a Library Technician. This position is primarily responsible for the tasks supporting the purchase of library collections materials, including but not limited to books, videos, films, other audio-visual materials, journals and databases in all formats.

Individuals in this position will work with Libraries’ staff within and external to the acquisitions & cataloging department to research materials, finding identifying information, publishers and vendors to purchase/subscribe/license materials from.

Under general guidance, utilizes a specialized knowledge of subjects, computer applications, or disciplines that apply to library processes and/or services or provides specialized knowledge of library functions. Utilizes a variety of systems and resources to provide access to library collections and performs the more complex technical functions requiring proficiency with technical protocols, digital technology, and data manipulation skills. Exercises initiative and independent judgment when providing service or interpreting, analyzing, and applying policies and procedures. Routinely analyzes problems that may impact other Library departments or the organization, and /or external parties and organizations.
