Purpose
We are seeking an experienced retail financial services lawyer to join as permanent member of the M&G Legal team, focusing on advising our Individual Life & Pensions business.
The role will support the development, distribution and ongoing management of retail savings and investment propositions to enable business growth and ensure good customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities

Provide timely, clear and commercially pragmatic legal advice on matters relating to:
- retail savings and investment products
- product structuring and design
- customer communications and financial promotions

Interpret and apply relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, translating these into practical guidance for the business

Support the business in identifying and managing legal, regulatory and conduct risks

Advise on the development and implementation of new and existing products and propositions, including changes to features, distribution and servicing models

Provide legal input into product lifecycle management, including remediation activity where required

Draft, review and advise on:
- policy terms and conditions
- customer communications
- marketing materials and financial promotions
Skills and experience
Technical expertise
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent) with at least 4 years of relevant PQE (Essential)
- Experience of advising within one of the following sectors (Essential):
- Life insurance and/or
- Pensions and/or
- Asset/wealth management and/or
- Retail financial services
- Working knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks relevant to retail savings and investment products.
Commercial and analytical capability
- Strong ability to apply legal principles pragmatically in a commercial context
- Sound judgement and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
- Ability to manage complex issues and provide clear recommendations
Stakeholder management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to influence and engage effectively with senior stakeholders
- Collaborative approach, with the ability to work across functions

- Proactive, solutions-oriented approach
- High levels of integrity and professional judgement
