Hospitality and Catering Lecturer / Assessor

Salary: This is a part time role with an actual salary of up to £24,474.75 per annum, and a full-time equivalent salary of up to £32,633 per annum dependent on skills and experience.

Working Hours: 24.75 hours per week over 4 days, 52 weeks per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join our Hospitality and Catering department.

The purpose of the role is To be responsible for teaching and assessing qualifications at Levels 1, 2 and 3 Hospitality and Catering and assisting with the development of the Construction curriculum.

The successful applicant must have:

  • Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 qualification in Catering
  • Up to date knowledge of the Hospitality and Catering Curriculum
  • Knowledge of assessment and tracking procedures
  • Previous teaching experience at an appropriate level
  • Appropriate industrial experience industry including working with meat, fish, game, pastry, chocolate and sugar and styles of service: ie: A la Carte, commercial and banqueting.

The roles main duties include:

  • Teaching, assessing and as appropriate, internally verifying Hospitality and Catering courses.
  • Supporting the development and expansion of the Hospitality and Catering Curriculum.
  • Ensuring that the Hospitality and Catering Curriculum is fully up to standard and to assist with the further development of the department.
  • Assisting in the Marketing of the College provision through attendance at Careers Conventions, Open Days and other promotional events.
  • Providing vocational support and guidance to learners. To track and target individual student progress.
  • Carrying out administrative duties associated with teaching, including maintenance of registers, schemes of work, assessments, reports, course records and course evaluations to a good standard and within established deadlines.
  • Assisting in the development of Curriculum support materials.
  • Being a Course Leader for at least one of the programmes.
  • Ensuring safe working practices are observed by yourself and others (including students) for whom you are responsible.
  • Providing such returns or reports as may from time to time be required by the Head of Curriculum or College.
  • Assist in the recruitment of students, including interviews and enrolments.
  • Assisting with programmes of work experience and/or industrial commercial liaison, including the organisation and monitoring of work experience placements.

This role requires you to engage in regulatory activity in the FE sector. The full definition of regulatory activity is set out in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Regulated activity includes teaching, instructing, caring for or supervising children if the person is unsupervised.

Grantham College operate a 4-day working week. Staff benefit from working a full-time contract over four days. You will work core hours of Monday to Thursday, working a Friday morning once a month
