The Study Startup and Conduct organization provides the central technology platforms for end-to-end clinical trial management and operational oversight. This group builds and maintains the core Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) used for study set-up, startup, execution, and close-out, delivering essential tools for real-time performance tracking, study monitoring, and milestone tracking to enable efficient clinical operations. Acting as a key strategic liaison and primary communication channel between five global Pharma Clinical Operations business functions, three strategic CROs, and the RDT organization, the team ensures the alignment of technology solutions with business needs and co-creates the technology strategy and portfolio to drive successful business outcomes.
As the Principal Product Leader, you will be accountable for the entire product lifecycle of a complex product—from initial ideation and strategic planning to launch, scaling, and eventual retirement. You will play a pivotal role in transforming scientific and business needs into tangible, high-value technology solutions by defining a product vision, strategy, and roadmap that accelerates the delivery of life-changing diagnostics and medicines to patients. Leveraging a distinct combination of scientific inquisitiveness, technical proficiency, and business insight, your primary objective will be to lead engineering and service teams in building desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable products that meet evolving internal user needs while maintaining strict compliance with relevant industry standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Orchestrate a broad ecosystem of internal teams, external SaaS vendors, and academic partners through integrated platform strategies and API management, while influencing senior leadership and key external partners.

Team Leadership & Development: Lead initiatives to improve product management processes and tools, coach team members on effective stakeholder communication, and champion a strong product culture rooted in customer-centricity, data-informed decision-making, and continuous learning.

Performance & Optimization: Focus on the long-term strategic growth of a significant business area by connecting product performance to broader business outcomes and guiding the overarching optimization strategy.

Financial & Resource Management: Develop multi-year financial forecasts and strategic plans in collaboration with operations leads, strategically allocating resources across multiple teams to align with business objectives and maximize portfolio ROI.
Who You Are

You bring extensive, advanced experience in product management, business analysis, or a similar role, demonstrating a proven track record of successfully launching and managing technology products.

You have substantial background in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated healthcare technology industry, coupled with demonstrated leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing multidisciplinary technical teams of engineering and product managers.

You possess a strong understanding of the product discovery and development lifecycle, modern software architecture (e.g., microservices, APIs, cloud platforms), data science, and AI/ML concepts.

You are highly familiar with regulatory and compliance standards, including GxP, FAIR data principles, and data privacy regulations such as GDPR.

You exhibit exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to translate high-level business and scientific goals into a concrete product vision and align diverse groups—including scientists, engineers, and executives—toward a common goal.
Qualifications
Education / Experience

10+ years of experience in product management, business analysis, or a similar role, with a proven track record of launching and managing technology products

2+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated healthcare technology industry

2+ years of experience in a leadership role managing multidisciplinary technical teams

Bachelor's degree (Master's, PhD preferred)
Technical Skills

Strong understanding of the product discovery and development lifecycle. Familiarity with GxP, FAIR data principles, and data privacy regulations (GDPR).

Understanding of modern software architecture (e.g., microservices, APIs, cloud platforms). Familiarity with data science and AI/ML concepts is required.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is between $200,100 - $371,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
