Facility Manager (Deputy Lead Building Technology) (all genders)

As a Facility Manager (Deputy Lead), you are responsible for the legally compliant operation of the site regarding building equipment and coordinate external service providers. You possess excellent technical understanding and, through close cooperation with all operationally relevant departments, ensure smooth processes in logistics as well as functioning building technology in general.

WHY THE ROLE IS EXCITING FOR YOU

  • Be responsible for the legally compliant operation of the site regarding building equipment and ensure complete documentation.

  • Implement new systems, equipment, and modifications into the CAFM system and create decision-making foundations for maintenance and retrofit measures.

  • Ensure that external service providers fulfill their contractual services and that all work preparations for your team are completed on time. Through your strong stakeholder management, you win partners over and work successfully with external service providers and suppliers.

  • Work closely with other departments such as Security, Procurement, Finance, IT, or material flow technology to ensure smooth operations in all areas as best as possible.

WE WOULD LIKE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have completed a technical apprenticeship, for example as a Master Electrician. You are trained and certified in the field of facility and maintenance management as well as the specific regulations regarding technical operation and occupational safety.

    You are also proficient in using CAFM systems.

  • You possess advanced technical skills as well as extensive experience in the field of facility management (e.g., planning, commissioning, status monitoring of all ongoing systems, documentation, normative and legal requirements, lease agreements including SLA monitoring).

  • You already have experience in leading employees, creating work instructions, work preparation, scheduling, documentation, and CAFM management, as well as dealing with external service providers.

  • You identify and coordinate effectively with external stakeholders, build business relationships, argue from the stakeholders' perspective, and successfully solve problems with them.

  • You actively shape the success of your team and are an important contact person. With your strong communication skills, you pass on your expertise in an understandable, sustainable, and tailored manner to your colleagues.

  • Your good German language skills in both spoken and written form, as well as your oral English skills at a B1 level, facilitate communication within the team.

LOCATION

Our European logistics network is growing: We are currently in the preparation phase for the opening of our new site in Gießen (Hesse), which is located just one hour from Frankfurt am Main. The 130,000 square meter, state-of-the-art logistics center is operated by Zalando and is designed for up to 1,700 employees. From this location, customers in Germany and neighboring markets will receive their packages starting in summer 2026.

Our logistics employees ensure that more than 50 million Zalando customers in more than 25 European markets receive their orders reliably every day. Today, Zalando has a Europe-wide logistics network with twelve locations in seven countries. In Germany alone, around 6,000 employees from over 100 nations work at four Zalando logistics sites.
