We are looking for a Business Unit Controller to strengthen our internationally operating Global Business Unit. You will work in an international project environment where financial results are continuously influenced by ongoing projects, different countries, regulations, and diverse stakeholders. This makes the role challenging: figures are constantly in motion and require interpretation and alignment.
You maintain control over financial performance, but above all, you look at what lies behind the numbers. You translate financial information into insights that help the business make decisions, both in the short and long term. The challenge lies in combining financial control with strategic thinking and advising, often under time pressure and with information that is not yet complete. That is exactly where you make an impact.
The responsibilities of this role are impossible to summarize in a single job posting, but if we had to try, it comes down to this:
-
You ensure accurate month-end closing and maintain control over work in progress, project results, accruals, and preliminary financial figures, laying the financial foundation for the business;
-
You deliver timely and reliable financial reporting, such as P&Ls, project overviews, and forecasts, so that management and stakeholders can make decisions based on current and accurate information;
-
You analyze project and financial performance, explain variances, and make risks and opportunities visible to Sales and Operations;
-
You work closely with Sales and Operations on forecasting and budgeting, with attention to quality, substantiation, and realistic assumptions;
-
You act as a financial sparring partner for internal and regional stakeholders, contribute to process improvements, and support investments and ad hoc Finance matters.
Benefits and Employment Conditions:
-
A permanent position with a leading TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) company;
-
A salary between €4.500,- and €6.500,-, depending on your knowledge and experience;
-
A fixed 13th month salary, paid out in November;
-
Up to 40 vacation days per year based on full-time employment;
-
The possibility to work hybrid (maximum 2 days from home based on full-time employment);
-
An excellent pension plan managed by PME (Metalektro Pension Fund);
-
A challenging position in a company where your input and possible improvements are valued.
Your Profile:
We are looking for someone who feels at home in a Rotterdam-based, transparent organization with many international projects. Our ideal future Business Unit Controller has:
-
A bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field;
-
5-10 years of relevant experience in Finance, Project Controlling, and Business Controlling;
-
Is hands-on, self-starting, and sees the whole picture from the details;
-
Experience with complex project dynamics and financial reporting;
-
Fluent in both Dutch and English (spoken and written);
-
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (SAP is a plus).
