The iSchool Admissions Counselor serves as a frontline recruitment, admissions, and engagement professional supporting both undergraduate and graduate programs at the Syracuse University School of Information Studies (iSchool). This role is responsible for managing prospective student pipelines from inquiry through matriculation, delivering consistent and high-quality engagement across the full enrollment funnel.
The Admissions Counselor manages and maintains the iSchool’s prospective student data within the university’s CRM system (Slate), ensuring accurate tracking of student interactions, application status, and communication history. The counselor will leverage CRM data to identify pipeline trends, prioritize outreach, and generate reports that inform recruitment strategy in collaboration with central enrollment services and the iSchool admissions team. A key component of this role is designing and executing specialized programming to showcase the iSchool’s academic offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. This includes developing and facilitating on-campus visit experiences, virtual information sessions, sample classes, workshops, and immersive programming that introduces prospective students to the breadth and depth of iSchool programs.
The counselor will also develop targeted off-campus programming in select markets to raise the iSchool’s profile and engage prospective students where they are. This position works closely with central Enrollment Services, the Office of Academic Affairs, and the iSchool’s academic and admissions teams to ensure coordinated, strategic, and mission-aligned recruitment efforts.
