About the role

The opening of the new Warsaw office supports plans to build a leading presence in the Polish market by combining technical excellence, innovative service delivery and sector specialisation, so that the firm becomes the first choice for clients doing business in Poland. • Cooperating with the commercial and pricing teams to provide financial analyses and reports supporting the head of the office and the partner team, both in day-to-day management and in the strategic development of the office.

  • Reviewing and managing cash flow reporting.

  • Responsibility for VAT settlements, including compliance with local rules on output VAT and input VAT deduction, and ensuring VAT returns agree to the general ledger.

  • Acting as the person responsible for AML compliance when receiving funds into clients' bank accounts, in line with the firm's anti-money laundering policy.

  • Supporting ad hoc reporting and projects, primarily related to process improvement or automation.

  • Support with ad hoc financial queries and matters relating to the Aderant, Emburse and iTimekeep systems.

  • Accounting certification is desirable, or working towards it.

  • At least five years' experience in a large professional services organisation or law firm, in a role with independent financial responsibility.

  • Documented experience implementing financial control mechanisms, processes and best practices in a developing business environment.

  • Very good knowledge of reporting under Polish accounting standards; knowledge of UK GAAP is an additional advantage.

  • Good practical knowledge of Polish VAT rules and of VAT rules applicable in the EU and outside the EU, together with the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.

  • Experience working with Aderant or Elite systems is an additional advantage.

  • Proficiency in Polish and English, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to clearly interpret and present financial information to different stakeholder groups.

  • Excellent work organisation and time management, including setting priorities and meeting strict reporting deadlines.

  • Proactive, positive and solution-focused approach, strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

  • Very good organisation, methodical approach and attention to detail.

  • Self-reliance and motivation, and the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to take ownership, be practically involved and go the extra mile to achieve expected results.

  • Composure, resilience and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
