Who we are

Born in 2008 and based in Paoli, Pennsylvania, DuckDuckGo is the online protection company on a mission to raise the standard of trust online. We build products that protect your privacy by default: a private search engine, a privacy-first browser for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, and a growing subscription that adds a VPN, personal information removal, identity theft restoration, and private AI access. We make money from privacy-respecting search ads and subscriptions—not your data.

Our team

We’re a fully distributed team of 335+ people across 27+ countries, with a culture of trust, inclusivity, and end-to-end ownership. There are no core hours, so you can work when you’re most productive, while collaborating through transparent, async-friendly tools. We meet in person at least twice per year for an all-hands meetup and team retreats, and our average retention has been ~95% since 2012. Note: where third‑party estimates differ, we use our careers data (335+ team members) as the source of truth.
