About City of Azusa
What is the City of Azusa?
The City of Azusa is the municipal government of Azusa, California — a San Gabriel Valley city of exactly 50,000 at the 2020 census, sitting at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. Founded in 1887 and incorporated in 1898, its name comes from the Tongva word for "skunk", historic Route 66 passes through on Foothill Boulevard and Alosta Avenue, and the LA Metro A Line's Azusa Downtown station sits right beside City Hall as the line's north-eastern terminus. Azusa Pacific University is the city's largest employer. Unusually, the city runs its own municipal utility — Azusa Light & Water, providing both electric and water service — alongside its own Azusa Police Department.
Where will I work?
Azusa City Hall at 213 E. Foothill Boulevard, with the A Line at the door. The 4/10 is structural: the city's own FAQ states its "regular office hours - 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday". Four days, every Friday off.
What is the City of Azusa team like?
A few hundred civic staff (a 2014-15 CAFR put the city at 383 employees) across Light & Water, community development, finance and administration. Recent civilian postings include a Finance Manager. We list the city's civilian professional roles; sworn positions run separate rosters and are excluded from our feed.
Work-Life Balance
Every Friday off, by the city's own published office hours — and like Colton, an in-house utility means more professional and technical roles than a typical city this size, all on the compressed pattern.
