Student Content Assistant

Student Affairs provides high-quality, consistent, and timely communications to students and parents at OHIO. The student content assistant will be responsible for supporting content creation for the Division’s newsletter, Keeping Bobcats Informed, as well as assisting in other division-wide communications. The assistant will draft copy for the biweekly email and adapt for other platforms as needed as well as write student affairs articles for OHIO News. The assistant will support text edits across Student Affairs websites. The assistant will also gather and resize images for newsletter content. Content areas include programs, events, jobs, student life stories, features on student organizations and more.

The preferred candidate should have experience with email marketing, journalism, copy writing, feel connected to campus life, and demonstrate passion for Ohio University. They will be self-motivated, creative, and capable of managing several projects at once. This candidate will work within the University’s developed brand.

The content assistant will gain valuable skills through this internship-like experience in the following ways:

·       Build a portfolio of writing samples for a variety of audiences

·       Set individual and professional goals and work closely with their supervisor to work toward their goals for the duration of their employment

·       Experience working in a team setting to complete tasks on time

·       Develop communication skills and make networking connections with staff and students

·       Adapt to changing priorities, timelines, and gain experience thinking on their feet

Details

10 hours per week. Pay is $12.35 per hour. Position begins in August. Eligible candidates must be available to work a minimum of two semesters with the Vice President for Student Affairs due to the duration of the training process.
