THE ROLE & THE TEAM

As a Security Guard Shift Lead (all genders), you ensure professional and proper security of our location and make sure that all employees in our logistics center feel protected and safe during your shift. You coordinate personnel scheduling and provide technical guidance to the Security Guards in your shifts.

Together with an international team of security experts, you support crime prevention and investigation activities. You actively work to protect our company assets and strengthen the security culture at our location.

WHY THIS ROLE IS EXCITING FOR YOU…

  • Lead the Security Guards professionally and ensure smooth processes during your shift. Plan your employees' deployment to work areas and create coordinated vacation schedules to always have sufficient staff available. Communicate daily tasks to your shift team to achieve ambitious goals together.

  • Together with your team and in collaboration with the external security service provider, you are responsible for access and entry control, monitor our building via video systems, manage our alarm and emergency call systems, and handle key management services. You also manage access rights and handle key management for guests and external partners.

  • Based on our operational guidelines, you conduct numerous security checks: from personnel checks of our employees entering and leaving the operational area to locker and vehicle inspections to speed checks on our yard.

  • When alarms are triggered, you coordinate external rescue and security services and implement protective measures. You are also responsible for theft prevention measures. In case of rule violations, you secure evidence and prepare reports, observe suspicious persons, and intervene in criminal activities. When needed, you provide first aid and initiate fire protection measures.

  • Additionally, you support project activities to continuously improve our processes at the location.

  • For your shift, you take full responsibility, regularly exchange information with the Security Specialist and other shift leaders, and continuously expand your knowledge and skills. Bring your own ideas and support the implementation of new security measures to make our workplace an even safer place.

WE'D LIKE TO GET TO KNOW YOU IF…

  • You have successfully completed training as a certified security officer [IHK] or the qualification as a plant security specialist and bring at least 2 years of professional experience in dealing with people as well as in administrative activities. Ideally, you have additional qualifications in first aid and/or fire protection.

  • To meet your responsibilities as a shift leader, you stand out for teamwork, high performance readiness, and physical and mental resilience. You present yourself confidently, are decisive, and enjoy taking responsibility for your team.

  • You find it easy to learn new software. You look forward to working with Google Workspace, various apps, and web tools to keep track of all processes and optimize them.

  • You have good rhetorical skills and share your knowledge in a clear, sustainable, and adapted manner to your colleagues' level of understanding. Your good German language skills in speaking and writing as well as basic English skills at A2 level facilitate communication in the team and enable excellent security service.

LOCATION: Lahr

Our logistics employees ensure that more than 50 million customers in 25 European markets receive seamless and reliable service every day. Zalando now has a growing European logistics network with currently twelve locations in seven countries. In Germany alone, thousands of employees from over 100 nations work at several Zalando logistics locations.

The logistics center in Lahr in the Black Forest is the newest of our German locations. The building with 130,000 square meters of space sets new standards for the industry and combines state-of-the-art infrastructure with smart thinking and great team cohesion.

We shipped our first package from the Black Forest location in 2016 and provide jobs for around 2,500 colleagues. In addition to entry-level opportunities in warehouse logistics, we are also looking for interested candidates in administration and technical departments in Lahr.
