This Opportunity

The Toronto office of Smith + Andersen is looking for a hands-on IT Service Technician to join our team. You are someone who enjoys solving problems and supporting people in a fast‑paced, professional environment. In this role, you will provide day‑to‑day technical support, assist with system administration and user management, and play a key role in keeping our technology reliable, secure, and running smoothly across the organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide first-level IT support including help desk ticket intake, assignment, follow-up, and escalation.
  • Image, configure, and deploy laptops and desktops, including user profile creation and system setup.
  • Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop hardware, components, and peripherals.
  • Complete physical workstation setups, including computers, monitors, printers, scanners, and related accessories.
  • Support Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Provide technical support for mobile devices across iOS and Android platforms.
  • Install, maintain, and update software, including patches and service packs.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain printers, scanners, and plotters, including related software issues.
  • Perform user data backups and restores as required.
  • Manage and track IT hardware inventory and components.
  • Support Active Directory workflow, including user objects and organizational units.
  • Support ticketing workflow and deliver end-user support.
  • Create and maintain employee guides and internal IT documentation.
  • Travel to regional offices across Canada as required to provide on-site support.

Who You Are:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on IT or end-user support experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant technical or IT-related field.
  • Experience with computer imaging and deployment tools using PDQ suite.
  • Strong working experience with Microsoft Windows 11 operating systems and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Practical understanding of Active Directory structures and workflows, including user objects and organizational units.
  • Comfortable working directly with computer hardware, components, tools, and physical workstation installations.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and standard help desk workflows.
  • Experience supporting Autodesk engineering software (e.g., Revit, MEP) or Bluebeam PDF is considered an asset.
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to occasionally to travel to S+A offices across Canada as required.
