Job Description
Design and create realistic simulations of various visual effects such as fire, smoke, water, hair, cloth, fur, muscles, destruction, and more.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Create complex simulations, from initial design and timing through to final cache and/or render
- Find the best approach for a given shot, in collaboration with your lead or supervisor
- Depending on the task, work closely with other departments (modeling, animation, rigging, etc.)
- Use particle and dynamics systems, expressions, soft and rigid bodies, as well as cloth dynamics
- Participate in the development of tools and scripts to improve productivity
- Learn and apply the studio's FX standards and tools while becoming familiar with the pipeline workflow
- Adopt a procedural approach whenever possible
- Knowledge of crowds (agents, simulation, etc.) — an important asset
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the film and visual effects (VFX) industry
- Creative mindset and ability to design complex FX scenes for feature films
- Strong experience in fluid simulation, Soft and Rigid Bodies, hair, cloth, fur, and muscles
- Excellent proficiency in Houdini
- Experience with Machine Learning — an asset
- Knowledge of Arnold — an asset
- Good programming skills (Python, etc.) — an important asset
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and proactively
