EHSS Manager & Occupational Safety Specialist in a permanent position, available immediately
As an EHSS Manager (m/f/d), you will manage and further develop the Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability Management System for our research site. You will combine sound knowledge of German and European EHSS law with the effective implementation of global corporate standards and provide pragmatic, risk-based consulting to the specialist departments.
Following a separate written appointment, you will also assume the role of Occupational Safety Specialist (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit). In this capacity, you will provide independent professional advice and support to site management, executives, and employees regarding the safe and healthy design of work. You will work closely with your direct supervisor and coordinate on priorities. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential prerequisites for collaborating effectively with various internal partners at the site and globally.
Your Responsibilities
· Managing and continuously developing the site-specific EHSS management system.
· Advising site management and executives on matters of occupational, health, and environmental safety.
· Performing statutory duties as an Occupational Safety Specialist upon separate appointment.
· Coordinating and ensuring the quality of risk assessments and other risk-based evaluations.
· Conducting EHSS assessments for new or modified facilities, equipment, substances, laboratory procedures, projects, and organizational changes.
· Providing professional management of relevant programs, including areas such as laboratory, hazardous materials, biological, machinery, compressed gas, and contractor safety.
· Investigating incidents and near-misses, as well as managing root cause analyses, CAPAs, and EHSS-relevant change control activities.
· Planning and conducting internal audits, as well as preparing for and supporting corporate audits and regulatory inspections.
· Developing and monitoring EHSS goals, key performance indicators, management reviews, and continuous improvement measures.
· Coordinating site-related environmental and sustainability topics, particularly waste, water, resource, and energy efficiency.
· Designing and conducting training and instructions, as well as further developing the safety culture.
· Collaborating with the company physician, works council, Facility Management, HR, research, authorities, the employers' liability insurance association (Berufsgenossenschaft), and global EHSS functions.
Qualifications
· A completed degree or other qualification that entitles you to be appointed as an Occupational Safety Specialist according to the applicable DGUV Regulation 2.
· Successfully completed and recognized qualification as an Occupational Safety Specialist.
· Several years of professional experience (> 5 years) in the relevant field, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotechnological, or similarly regulated research or laboratory environment, are required.
· Sound knowledge of German and European occupational, health, and environmental safety law.
· Experience with risk assessments, audits, incident investigations, CAPA, change control, and EHSS management systems.
· Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
· Strong communication and consulting skills, as well as the ability to convey complex requirements in an understandable and solution-oriented manner.
· A structured, independent working style, clear prioritization, and consistent follow-up on agreed measures.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in chemical safety, biological safety, laboratory safety, special laboratory waste management, or environmental management.
· Experience in an international matrix organization and in the local implementation of global standards.
· Project management, audit, or other relevant additional EHSS qualifications.

Full-time, permanent; start date from January 2027.

Staffelseestraße 2, 81477 Munich.
Due to the site-specific nature of the tasks, regular on-site presence is required; mobile working is possible within the framework of company policies.
Travel
Limited, maximum 10%, particularly to European or global company sites.
Appointment as Sifa
The formal appointment as an Occupational Safety Specialist is made separately and in writing.

Salary Range
80,344.55 EUR - 108,701.45 EUR
