Women's Foundation for the State of Arizona
Innovating to create equity for women and girls in Arizona through research, advocacy, and grantmaking.
Who we are
The Women's Foundation for the State of Arizona (WFSA) was established in 1991 in Tucson by Melody Robidoux and Harriet Silverman, evolving from a local women's scholarship fund into a statewide organization dedicated to achieving equity for women and girls. Officially incorporated in 1999, WFSA now operates with a team of 13 staff members, led by CEO Dr. Amalia Luxardo, and continues to expand its impact across Arizona, including the launch of the Women & Girls of Color Fund in 2021.
What we do
WFSA focuses on creating social, political, and economic change for women and girls through four strategic pillars: research, advocacy, innovation, and investment. The organization conducts nonpartisan research to identify economic barriers and opportunities, advocates for policy changes that remove systemic barriers, pilots innovative programs like Pathways for Single Moms, and invests in a wide range of organizations that support women and girls.
Working at WFSA
WFSA values work-life balance and employee wellness, which led to the adoption of a four-day workweek in July 2023. The organization operates Monday through Thursday, allowing staff to maintain a healthy work-life balance while remaining passionate and productive. WFSA is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that the lived experiences of its team members enrich the work and foster a supportive and innovative culture.
