About Target Publishing
What is Target Publishing?
Target Publishing is a UK-based independent publisher, content provider and event organiser in the natural and integrative health markets. From the homepage tagline: "Creative content that drives meaningful engagement... A leading publisher, content provider and event organiser in the natural and integrative health markets."
The company was founded 25 years ago — and adopted a four-day work week in 2020. In a July 2025 press release on the company's own site, Managing Director David Cann marked the 5-year anniversary of the model: "We made the move to a four-day week to give our team a better work-life balance – and it's one of the best decisions we've ever made. Not only has it helped us retain talent, but it's also contributed to a happier, more energised, stable team and stronger results for our clients."
Titles include Health Food Business, Natural Lifestyle, and Integrative Healthcare & Applied Nutrition (IHCAN) magazine. Events include the Natural Health Trade Summit and the IHCAN Summit. The homepage describes the operation: "OVER 30 EVENTS PER YEAR".

It's our commitment to staying ahead in the ever changing, fast-paced markets we work in, which ensures we remain the UK's leading independent publisher, content provider and event organiser in a variety of sectors." (David Cann).
Work-Life Balance
Target Publishing moved every member of staff to a four-day working week — with no reduction in pay — in 2020. From the original /4dayweek/ page on the company's own site (published August 2020 by MD David Cann): "COVID-19 has changed how every business operates. We're determined to make the change a positive. Lockdown highlighted the importance of time with family. That's why we've started a new four-day working week – without any reduction in pay – to help support our employees mental health, well-being and give them a healthier work-life balance."
The model has been celebrated five years running. Joe Ryle, Campaign Director of the 4 Day Week Foundation, was quoted in Target's 5-year-anniversary press release: "Congratulations to Target Publishing for a successful 5 years working a four-day week. With 50% more free time, moving to a four-day week gives workers the freedom to be able to live a happier and better life."
