About Stagecast
What is Stagecast?
Stagecast is a London-based arts broadcasting, live-streaming and video-production company specialising in classical music, opera, and theatre. Verbatim from /: "We make broadcasts happen. Grow your audience with high-quality broadcasts, and the best classical music live streaming on the market." Founded in 2017 by Matt Parkin (CEO, ex-Head of Digital at the Royal College of Music until 2020) and co-founder David, the team has worked extensively for major broadcasters including the BBC and Sky.
The company's track record on the /about page is summarised verbatim: "25+ Years of Experience" and "Stagecast was founded in 2017 when, with years of experience in music production and broadcasting, we set out to see how high it was possible to push the quality of concert films and audience numbers with minimal resources. In 2020-2022 we grew rapidly as a result of the shift to digital-first performance and the new creative possibilities that arose."
Stagecast's three published "Why Stagecast?" pillars are verbatim: Musically-minded ("The Stagecast team share a love of music, and have produced countless hours of live streams and broadcasts. Even for non-musical events, this experience helps us provide flowing and engaging coverage."); Professional ("Our team has worked extensively for major broadcasters including the BBC and Sky. We take pride in delivering audio and video to the highest creative and technical standards."); and Friendly ("We're an approachable group of creative people, keen to help you realise your ambitions.")
Clients verbatim: "world-leading names from the UK's foremost orchestras, ensembles, opera companies, venues, arts organisations and broadcasters" — including the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO Live's Becky Lees: "trusted extension of our team... deliver programmes to the highest standard, under the pressures of a tight schedule and production lead times"), Philharmonia Orchestra (Marta Génova: "Stagecast are a dream to work with!"), Monteverdi Choir & Orchestras (Rosa Solinas: "Their highly skilled and creative teams have offered excellent expertise"), Scottish Chamber Orchestra (with Pekka Kuusisto, Peter Whelan, Nicola Benedetti), the BBC Ten Pieces (Jennifer Redmond: "talented, multi-skilled team"), Abbey Road EPK (Karen LeFrak: "Everyone was discreet and respectful of the orchestra and conductor"), and an English Baroque Soloists Blu-ray for Deutsche Grammophon. Press coverage includes The Times, Sunday Times, The i and Seen and Heard International.
Where will I work?
Stagecast is registered in England and Wales (Company Number 10794661) and operates from London (27 Old Gloucester Street in WC1N). Production work is hybrid: on-site filming at venues for performance shoots, plus remote post-production and broadcast operations. The DB sidebar: "Stagecast supports a flexible working model that blends on-site collaboration with remote work options to best suit individual needs."
What is the Stagecast team like?
The team is small and senior — verbatim from /about "6 Team Members" plus "50+ Freelance Staff." The 6 in-house members are: Matt Parkin (CEO, ex-BBC sound supervisor and operations manager, hundreds of album and TV credits, ex-Head of Digital at Royal College of Music until 2020); Calum Wyllie (Head of Production, ten years as Stage Manager at the National Theatre, Royal Opera, and across the West End); Georgia Orwell (Production Manager, ex-BBC Proms and Sky Arts "Artist of the Year"; Music at University of Birmingham, Production Management at the NFTS); Phil Glenny (Technical Producer); Paul Anders (Technical Supervisor with a Tonmeister degree); and Jude Lacey (Production Assistant, ex-Gravity Media and Beeston Media). The 50+ freelance roster includes named directors, editors, camera operators and audio specialists across the UK's broadcasting and concert-filming community.
Work-Life Balance
Stagecast operates a four-day, 32-hour work week. CEO Matt Parkin is a signatory of the 4 Day Week Foundation's October 2025 open letter to the UK government urging ministers to back England's transition to a shorter working week. The DB sidebar lists 20 days vacation; hybrid working blends on-site collaboration at performance venues with remote post-production options.
Perks and Benefits
The Stagecast website does not publish a detailed employee benefits list. The headline employment commitment is the four-day, 32-hour work week described in the Work-Life Balance section above. As a small in-house team backed by a deep freelance roster, we've retained no further benefit bullets in the absence of any explicit careers or culture page.
