Rise
Making physical activity accessible in North East England through strategic partnerships.
Who we are
Rise is a charity dedicated to making physical activity accessible across Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside, and Sunderland. We collaborate with local, regional, and national partners to create opportunities for people to be more active, mainly focusing on underrepresented groups. Our efforts are supported by Sport England and a network of 42 Active Partnerships across the country.
What we do
Our work spans various sectors, including local authority leisure teams, public health, education, housing, and criminal justice. By addressing barriers to physical activity, we aim to improve health and well-being, with an especially significant emphasis on engaging those who are currently inactive. We develop local, place-based approaches and solutions through initiatives like the Opening Schools Facilities (OSF) Programme, which seeks to reduce inequalities and get more children and young people active outside school hours.
Working at Rise
A passion for community health and social equity drives our team. We believe in a supportive and flexible working environment. We participate in the 4-Day Week National Roll Out Programme, allowing full-time employees to work 30 hours per week with no salary reduction. Our culture values collaboration, innovation, and the well-being of staff and the communities we serve.
