Who we are

Open Ownership (OO) is a global organization focused on advancing beneficial ownership transparency (BOT), revealing companies' true owners. We believe that access to high-quality ownership data strengthens economies, reduces corruption, and fosters greater trust in governance and business. Since our inception in 2017, we have worked with nearly 40 countries, helping governments implement beneficial ownership reforms that comply with international standards and promote transparency.

What we do

Open Ownership provides technical assistance and capacity-building support to governments worldwide to help them implement beneficial ownership reforms. We have developed the world’s leading data standard for beneficial ownership information, the Beneficial Ownership Data Standard (BODS). In addition to guiding legal and technical frameworks, we build tools like the Global Open Ownership Register, enabling the publication and use of structured ownership data. Our work empowers governments, civil society, and businesses to use this data to improve transparency, reduce corruption risks, and foster better governance.
