Where will I work?

LifeCity is headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana: "Our story is rooted in New Orleans, but our impact reaches far beyond."

What is the LifeCity team like?

Founder and CEO Liz Shephard came to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina: "LifeCity began in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, when our founder, Liz Shephard, came to New Orleans to support the city's recovery. She saw something powerful unfolding: countless organizations working to rebuild a better, more sustainable city. Liz recognized the need for collaboration and connection between these businesses, and she took action."

In 2011 she launched a "Green Directory" of local sustainability-committed businesses, which grew into a service offering by 2016 when LifeCity convened regional experts with Greater New Orleans Foundation funding to create the Love Your City initiative. Liz is "Trained as both a facilitator and LEED Green associate" and holds "a B.A. in Psychology and Environmental Studies from Carleton College, where she graduated with Honors and Distinction." LifeCity won the SBA's state-wide Sustainable Business Champion Award in May 2017, and Liz was recognised as one of CityBusiness's Top 50 Business Women of New Orleans in 2015.

The named team also includes Jake Lipsman (Director of Impact Research and Analysis — Ph.D. in environmental sociology, Tulane undergrad), Caitlin Rostampour (Managing Consultant, Sustainability — M.S. from Florida State studying oceanography and social and sustainable enterprise, focused on manufacturing clients), SanChavis Torns (Visual Storyteller — dual M.F.A.s in Film Production and Screenwriting from University of New Orleans), and Georgia Hoffman (Sustainability Intern — Tulane senior in Environmental Studies and Political Economy).

Liz is also open about lived experience: "Suffering a traumatic brain injury in 2018, Liz is passionate about spreading awareness about TBIs and disability in the workplace."
