About Cosmic
What is Cosmic?
Cosmic is a social-impact creative agency based in Santa Cruz, California. Founded in 2009 by Eric Ressler (Founder & Creative Director), the studio initially worked primarily with leading tech startups and global B2B brands in Silicon Valley. In 2016, Cosmic made an intentional pivot, shifting its focus strictly toward the social impact sector — non-profits, social enterprises, funders, and other social-change organizations.
The team partners with cause-driven brands worldwide, helping them adopt a modern mindset and culture, think and act more like media companies, and "transform their passion into a brand that stands above the noise in the attention economy and creates exponential impact." Services span brand strategy, digital design, web development, content strategy, and integrated campaigns.
Where will I work?
Cosmic is a fully remote team — "work where you live, and ditch the commute." The team is distributed across the United States, with the registered office at 343 Soquel Avenue #143, Santa Cruz, CA 95062. Open roles (Designer, Developer) are always-on remote listings.
What is the Cosmic team like?
The team is small — around 8 named members on the about page, including Eric Ressler (Founder & Creative Director), Lisa Benson (Chief of Staff), Scott Richards (Designer), Katie Winkler (Designer), Tyrone Shine and Nate Tlaseca (Developers), Matt Steele (Content Strategist), and Karen Stevenson (Project Manager). Cosmic welcomes "people from all walks of life, all genders and orientations, all religions and cultures, and all ethnicities" — diversity and inclusion are explicit guiding principles. The Cosmic Manifesto frames the team as a "Creative Team Dedicated to Change," partnering only with organizations that have "significant, meaningful, and lasting impact potential."
Work-Life Balance
Cosmic operates a 4-day workweek — "We work a 4-day work week (32-40 hours per week). Enjoy 3-day weekends every week!" Time off includes 2 weeks paid vacation per year, 5 paid holidays, plus the studio closes for the last 2.5 weeks of the year as an additional long paid holiday — totalling roughly 5-6 weeks off per year between studio closures, flex time, and holidays.
