About Charity Bank
What is Charity Bank?
Charity Bank is the savings and loan bank with a mission to use money for good. Verbatim from the careers page: "We use money our savers entrust to us to make loans to charities, social enterprises and organisations with charitable purposes across the UK." The bank is "entirely owned by charitable foundations, trusts and social purpose organisations" — making it a genuinely ethical bank rather than one that markets itself as such.
Established in 2002 as an independent regulated bank (Companies House #4330018, FCA register #207701, Prudential Regulation Authority authorised, FSCS member), Charity Bank has become a trusted partner for social-sector organisations. CEO Ed Siegel says: "Charity Bank is not an ordinary bank, we're a community of people who are working to make a positive social impact. We're here to align financial resources with values and a commitment to social progress."
Three values guide the team: Working in harmony ("We are all part of a whole, one community working together"), Mutual Respect ("an organisation that understands, values, and encourages difference"), and Being the change ("Through our choices and actions, we are being the change – empowering charities and social enterprises to make UK society a better place").
Where will I work?
The registered office is Fosse House, 182 High Street, Tonbridge, TN9 1BE — a market town in Kent. The bank operates a hybrid model with flexible working practices, and current open roles (May 2026: 2× Lending Services Officer + Lending Services Manager) reflect the lending-services focus of the team.
What is the Charity Bank team like?
Charity Bank is committed to reflecting the diverse communities it serves. The team encourages applicants from all backgrounds and lived experiences, and is a Disability Confident Committed Employer — guaranteeing an interview if you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 and meet the essential criteria for the role.
The recruitment process is built around fairness: "Charity Bank prioritises an inclusive and fair recruitment process. We use recruitment software to reduce unconscious bias by incorporating skill-based questions alongside CVs. Anonymised responses and CVs are reviewed in a random order by our hiring team to ensure equal opportunities for all candidates, regardless of background. Demographic questions are optional and used solely for statistical purposes."
Work-Life Balance
"We offer all staff the opportunity to work four days a week with full-time pay. Our four-day week promotes a healthy work-life balance, boosts morale, and enhances job satisfaction." Verbatim mechanics: the four-day week consists of 32 hours, typically spread across four eight-hour days. Available pro-rata to part-time employees. Employees typically choose either Friday or Monday as their day off, and those days are protected and treated like weekends. Annual leave is 160 hours base, scaling up to a maximum of 192 hours per annum (pro-rata), with an additional purchase scheme of up to 32 hours.
