About British Society for Immunology
What is the British Society for Immunology?
The British Society for Immunology (BSI) is one of the oldest and largest immunology societies in the world, established in 1956. It supports immunologists across the UK and beyond through scientific journals, conferences (including its flagship BSI Congress), training, grants and public engagement — advancing immunology to improve human and animal health.
Where will I work?
BSI's head office is in London, supporting a UK-wide membership community of scientists and clinicians.
What is the BSI team like?
Around 50 staff work across publishing, events, membership, policy, communications and operations — knowledge work in the service of a scientific community.
Work-Life Balance
BSI is a Gold-standard accredited employer with the 4 Day Week Foundation — the Gold standard means a 32-hour (or shorter) working week at 100% of pay. The society piloted its four-day week from November 2024 before adopting it, and appears on the Foundation's official accredited-employers directory (verified 2026-07-02).
