About BOLD LIP
What is BOLD LIP?
BOLD LIP is an independently-run, founder-led branding and web agency focused on women's health organisations. Founded in 2021 by Taralyn Carver, RGD, and Kate Voltan with more than 50 years of combined experience between them, the agency's positioning is sharp: "BOLD LIP is a women-owned branding agency focused on women's health organizations. We offer brand strategy and messaging, visual identity design, website design and development, and always on support through retainer partnerships."
The agency's services span three areas: Branding ("sharp positioning, consistent messaging, and a visual identity that holds up in women's health where tone, nuance, and credibility are everything"); Websites ("digital experiences that help women's health organizations communicate sensitive, complex work with clarity and confidence"); and Always On ("ongoing brand support for women's health organizations managing multiple initiatives, lean teams, and a mission too important to communicate inconsistently"). Recent client work includes Canadian Blood Services, Psychedelics Today, The Doctress' Office, Hike Medical, Auxita, and Ottawa Cancer Foundation.
Where will I work?
A 100% remote team across Canada, with members based in Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver, serving clients globally. The agency's land acknowledgement names Ottawa "on the unceded Algonquin Anishinabe territory."
What is the BOLD LIP team like?
A small, senior-led team: Kate Voltan (CEO & Founder), Taralyn Carver RGD (Chief Creative Officer & Founder), Toto Ho (Senior Art Director), Fatima Rabi (Art Director), Molly Drinnan (Designer), and Reagan Bradley (Account Director & Brand Strategist). Work is supported by a Clinical & Health Equity Advisory Committee of registered nurses and a PhD researcher — Kyla MacGinnis RN BScN MN (Public Health + Health Equity Strategy), Jennifer Purkiss RN BScN (Patient Experience + Community Health), Suzanne Marshall RN BScN (Acute Care + System Navigation), and Danielle Quigley PhD (Behaviour + Neurodevelopmental Health) — who ensure the work is grounded in the realities of care delivery.
Work-Life Balance
Following the agency's 2023 move to a four-day work week, no-meeting Fridays preceded the transition. In a January 2024 op-ed by former co-founder Joanne Gallop in the Ottawa Business Journal: "Implementation was surprisingly simple, a matter of adjusting timelines and giving our clients a heads-up. Within a month all was running smoothly, with our clients and our team embracing the new schedule." The remote-first structure removes commuting and gives team members across three Canadian cities full control over how they shape their working day.
