Who we are

We are a bootstrapped 3D education and software company with a mission to foster and elevate creatives within the Blender community. We provide tools and training necessary for anyone wanting to develop or master the power of 3D.

Autotroph was formerly CG Cookie, Inc. but rebranded in 2023 to better clarify our identity and reduce confusion given the fact that CG Cookie is also an active brand within the Autotroph family.

Working at Autotroph

A healthy life/work balance is mission-critical. Family always comes first and we aim to build that right into our business. Autotroph works on a 4-day work week, with optional Fridays, effectively adding 52 additional paid days off for full-time employees (nearly 2 months).

The last thing we want is for anyone to burn out. Burn out is destructive (and avoidable).

This means our typical work week is 32 hours (no, you’re not asked to put in longer days in exchange for Friday-off).

The exceptions to Fridays off, are for large project launches and other special events that require constant attention. These will always be communicated beforehand.

The Autotroph crew is spread across the world! We are a remote company, by design, such that we are each enabled and empowered to live in the place that makes us happy. Be that in the plains of Kansas or the mountains of North Carolina, the only real requirement is that we each have a steady internet connection.

Being remote, though, we have to work harder to ensure we’re properly communicating. One way do this is through annual, or bi-annual retreats.
