CxO

DNS Filter

We work a rotating 4 day work week, so we're off on every other Friday

Only considering candidates who are eligible to work in the USA ⚠️

At DNSFilter we are making workplaces more secure through protective DNS and advanced content filtering—and we need your help! We’ve come a long way over the past few years. In 2021 we had a successful $30 million Series A funding round, in 2022 we became the fastest DNS security tool on the planet and acquired the privacy-focused VPN Guardian, and in 2023 we extended our Series A by $15M and added more global points of presence to our anycast network!

As we continue our product-fueled growth by adding new features and broadening our solution to meet the needs of the global market, it's clear there's a missing piece. That's where you come in!

We're looking for a CxO who will not only contribute significantly as a Chief Operating Officer (COO), but also oversee our financial systems (CFO), playing a key role in our Executive team. This unique dual-role requires a strategic leader with strong financial expertise, industry insight, and a broad interest in various business aspects, to help drive our sustainable growth.

The CxO will be a thought leader on strategy, overseeing not just financial operations, mergers and acquisitions, and future capital ventures, but also playing a pivotal role in streamlining business operations, optimizing efficiency, and contributing to operational decision-making processes. This expanded role is crucial for enabling an efficient, cohesive operation that supports our growth across all departments.

A successful CxO at DNSFilter is expected to prioritize mentorship, coaching, and to provide robust support to their team through all aspects of a growth-stage organization. The ideal candidate will bring a holistic approach to leadership, demonstrating an ability to navigate both the financial and operational landscapes with equal proficiency, ensuring synergy between these critical areas of our business. The CxO will collaborate with the CEO and Executive team across all areas of the business, developing strong relationships with other executives to align financial strategies with broader organizational goals.

We recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job. If you feel like this job is for you, please apply. We believe diversity of experience and skills, including transferable skills, combined with passion is a key to innovation and excellence; therefore we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply to our positions!

In this role, you will:

  • Actively contribute to operational decision-making processes, functioning as a CFO that is highly involved in other operational components of the business in order to streamline those operations and optimize efficiency in assistance/alongside to the CEO.
  • Oversee and direct the company's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Spearhead short-term and long-term strategic planning, shaping the agenda with a financial framework.
  • Collaborate with other executive team members to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve efficiency metrics across all areas of the business.
  • Foster a culture of transparency and accountability within the finance department and across organizational operations.
  • Assist in managing investor relations, regularly communicate with the Board of Directors on DNSFilter’s short and long-term strategies, financial performance and financial outlook.
  • Lead and mentor a finance team, providing guidance in all aspects of financial management and growth-stage challenges. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage mergers and acquisitions, and spearhead future capital ventures, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals.
  • Lead the FP&A, controlling, accounting, tax, and reporting activities for the company’s financial operations.
  • Work during EST business hours.
  • At a minimum, travel to quarterly ELT offsite meetings.

To qualify for this role, you have:

  • Proven experience as a CFO and a COO, preferably in a technology or growth-stage company, with a track record of successful financial and operational leadership.
  • Deep cybersecurity industry experience
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, with an ability to combine financial insights with business acumen.
  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with experience in mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial legislation, regulation, and best practices, with a proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Experience in a dual CxO role or significant exposure to operational aspects of a business, including G&A functions
  • Experience working in a remote environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization

Bonus points for:

  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; an MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is preferred.
  • Cybersecurity/SaaS industry experience
  • Background in a high-growth technology sector or experience with tech startups.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling financial operations in a rapidly growing organization.
  • Previous involvement in significant venture capital funding, M&A activities and international business expansion.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization
